With the encouragement of his family and friends, Jack M. Van Hooser shares a humorous personal account of growing up on the road with his father and older brother on the heels of the Great Depression. Unimaginable in modern times, the two young brothers spent their formative years occupying themselves in many major cities across the southeastern United States, while their father worked for their survival. Not often in school, this adventurous childhood taught Jack and his brother the values of hard work, adaptation and perseverance, lessons they carried with them through separations and successes in high school and college athletics, and beyond.

This book is more than the title indicates .... it tells of generally unspoken words of love from a Father and older Brother. An exceptional touching story of struggles and lessons learned. albeit probably not realized at the time. Have known the Author as opponent on the football field and as College mate, but never knew of his storied childhood. An All-everything both in high school and college sports, the Author had every opportunity to be boastful and self-absorbed. He never did and is very open about his love of Family, Life and the Lord. This is a must read for every family, especially their children. By the way, a very successful and Christian man steps out of this book!
