Diana Mankin Phelps

Diana was raised in Fresno, California and moved to McAlester, Oklahoma while in High School where she graduated.

In 1975, Diana went to work for Wal-Mart in Fort Smith, Arkansas and after marrying would eventually move to Rogers, Arkansas where she continued to work in the Home Office until retiring, due to health problems, in 1993. She worked in many capacities from Special Divisions, Real Estate and Sam's Clubs. Diana was the first associate assigned to develop the Sam's Clubs division when this new venture began. After retiring Diana battled Lupus and Degenerative Disc Disease. To receive the physical care needed she moved to the Oklahoma City area where she participated in research study's through the Oklahoma Research Center. Diana remarried and continues to live there as do two of her three children.

In May of 2005 Diana's youngest son, Aaron P. Mankin, was severely wounded while serving in Iraq as a Maine Corps combat correspondent. He was quickly moved to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio where she stayed by his side for nearly nine months. As the months turned into years of recovery for Aaron, Diana continued to travel and care for him during the more than sixty surgeries and numerous speaking engagements.
