Alan Chambers
Alan and Leslie got engaged on their first date while working for major league baseball great Orel Hershiser and his family. They married in January 1998 and began a very public journey living their faith and sharing their lives. During their nearly 18 years of marriage they have been featured on every major (and minor) media outlet in the world related to Alan's personal story as a Christian with a gay orientation, their unlikely union, and his work. From 2001 to 2013 Alan led Exodus International, the oldest and largest ex-gay organization in the world, when together with his core team of leaders and board of directors they closed the ministry and began making great strides towards building relationships with the LGBT community and encouraging the global Church to do the same. The Chambers goal is to reduce fear, establish trust, and inspire hope for the sake of the Gospel. Alan has authored 2 books. He and Leslie’s latest book together, My Exodus: From FEAR to GRACE (Zondervan/HarperCollins) releases on September 29, 2015.
