Aloysius Ajab Amin

Aloysius Ajab Amin earned a PhD in Economics from Pennsylvania State University, USA; a Master’s in Political Economy from Boston University, USA; and a Master’s in Economics Human Resources from The University of New Brunswick, Canada. Professor Amin has many years of work experience in Africa, Europe, Central Asia and North America. Professor Amin recently served as Chair of Economics Department, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan in Central Asia for the period 2010-2013. He also served as Deputy Director and Head of Training at the UN African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (UN-IDEP, Dakar). He has taught at Boston University, Pennsylvania State University, Buea University, the University of Yaoundé and Yaoundé II where he also held some administrative positions. He taught at School of Public Works – Yaoundé, AERC (JFE) – Nairobi, Kenya, and MEFMI-Harare, Zimbabwe. He carried out consultancies with UN agencies and international organizations including WB, EU, ADB and IMF. In 2010, he was Program Consultant for TrustAfrica’s Investment Climate and Business Environment (ICBE) in Dakar. Besides teaching, Professor Amin has occupied many administrative and managerial positions in various institutions.

He is currently a Senior Research Fellow at LAND ENGINEERING & SURVEYING, INC. and INSTITUTE FOR DEVELOPMENT SOLUTIONS, INC. Atlanta GA as well as a visiting Professor of development economics at JFE PhD program at AERC, Nairobi, Kenya and Professor at University of Yaoundé II.

Professor Amin has authored many books, journal articles, book chapters; and he has written many reports with policy briefs in the areas of poverty and development issues, human (capital) development, health and education planning, child labor, economic growth and trade.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of African Integration, and Editorial Board, Langaa RPCIG Publishers. He serves as a reviewer for a number of journals including African Development Review, Journal of International Development, African Development, and Research Outputs of IDRC (International Development Research Centre) Ottawa. He is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) and American Economic Association.
