Avijit Lahiri
Avijit Lahiri is a renowned teacher and researcher in physics, with interest ranging over a broad area. He has published on a number of topics in international journals of physics and, in addition to the e-book Basic Physics: A Comprehensive Survey, is the author of two other text-books in physics, one a book on general physics at the graduate level, and the other a text-book on Statistical Mechanics, covering the graduate and post-graduate levels. The latter has been acclaimed by students and teachers, and has sold on the international market. He is now engaged in writing a text-book in optics at the graduate and post-graduate levels, where there will be an in-depth coverage on topics in modern optics like Fourier Optics, Statistical Optics, Quantum Optics, and Nonlinear Optics, along with the more traditional topics.
He has, in recent years, been interested in Nonlinear Dynamics and Quantum Information Theory. He has lectured extensively on numerous topics in physics covering a wide area, both to specialists and to audience with more general interests. He has taught physics for long years at the undergraduate level, and has delivered a number of invited courses at the post-graduate level, as also quite a few refresher courses addressing physics teachers.
