Anaya Green's life mysteriously changes from simplistic to complex in one quick moment when an unusual form of communication takes place between herself and her favorite tree. For five years she has confided in this unique tree which resides in her backyard, however when the tree responds her world drastically changes. As we watch Anaya's private life evolve, we are drawn into the mysterious and newsworthy drama of her job as a newspaper reporter. While researching a controversial new transportation project, Anaya gets up close and personal with a suicide victim. When Anaya discovers an unusual message indicating that the suicide is really a murder, she has no choice but to follow the lead. This same message also opens up a surreal world involving a mysterious family of trees. At times the story will disturb the reader, at other times the reader will be inspired by the love that can develop when a personality is ascribed to a tree, and the tree experiences human nature.
