Bill Archer

Bill Archer was born in Iowa but lived and worked all over the United States and elsewhere during school and work periods. He served nine years in the Marines Corps, then went to college at Central State College in Oklahoma, then law school at the University of Florida. Besides legal experiences, Bill taught college at several universities before going to work for the federal government with the Department of Transportation, where he worked on both coasts, retiring in San Francisco in 1997. Bill currently resides in Washington state near the Columbia River Gorge where hiking, sea kayaking and photography consume his non-writing time

Writing something that paid tribute to Richard Brautigan was something I wanted to do for almost thirty years but life just stayed busy. The book about my time in the Marines was encouraged by several friends. It was a good time, it was a not-so-good time - it was the Marines!!! Tommy was just something in me that had to come out. Most recently, Native Homeland is finally completed. A fictional western that was born back in the 1950s from watching too many western movies at the Saturday matinees. It was a fun, but difficult, book to write.
