Cynthia Hudley

After receiving a Ph.D. in educational psychology from UCLA, Cynthia Hudley began studying children's social perceptions and social behavior in school and community settings. She pursued her interests in how children understand peers' social behavior, and how these social cognition affect their own subsequent behavior in both social and academic domains. Although she served as Principal Investigator on a variety of projects, her study funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention implemented and evaluated her violence reduction curriculum, The BrainPower Program, that is the foundation of the book, You Did That on Purpose.

Prior to entering graduate school, Dr. Hudley enjoyed a professional career working as a special education teacher and administrator for children with learning disabilities and serious emotional disturbance. She worked as a juvenile camp school reading specialist, an administrator of special education programs, and a program director for a vocational training program for adolescents.
