Down East on Nelson Island

Retired Arthur Austin has no idea what to expect when his 9-year old granddaughter is dropped off abruptly at his island home on the North Carolina coast. The young girl, dressed in pinafore, Mary Jane shoes and lacey socks has no idea what she will do to keep herself busy while her parents tour the China textile markets half a world away. The first thing he does is introduce her to the local consignment shop where she is outfitted for the summer and yardsales, neither of which she has ever experienced. When her stubborn grandmother appears to claim Rachel and take her back to a high society Charlotte home, Arthur steps in to stop her. His actions with his former wife confuse his lady friend.
