Graham Butchart
Born in Sydney, Australia the author spent his boyhood in Papua New Guinea before returning to live in Sydney. At the age of 34 he returned to the tropics with his young family and opened a restaurant in Bali, Indonesia. There he went on to build a boutique hotel around the restaurant. As his local knowledge and expertise grew, he eventualy spent over twenty years living and working on the higher corporate end of Bali's tourism industry.
Graham spent much of his spare time surfing, frequently travelling by boat to surf over pristine reef breaks off some of Indonesia's remotest islands. After the October 12th 2002 Bali bombing and the collapse of the tourism industry he returned to Australia briefly then moved to Whale Bay, Raglan, New Zealand where he lived as a recluse until he had completed the first draft of Acrobats Of Reason. While Acrobats Of Reason is based on actual events and the authors personal experiences the sequel is a work of fiction but draws heavily on the authors many years of living in the world's most populous Muslim nation, Indonesia.
