Harry's Open-Heart Surgery by Christopher Memoli

Harry is now eleven years old and it has been six years since he first learned of his heart defect. He is gearing up to start the sixth grade at the end of the summer. However, due to his declining heart condition, Harry has become increasingly symptomatic with a continual reduction in physical stamina and therefore continues to face much larger hurdles to overcome in his daily life. His doctor has ultimately determined that Harry will require open-heart surgery. Join Harry as he confronts and tackles his physical challenges as well as the anxiety associated with preparing to undergo major surgery and fitting in with a larger peer group as he embarks onto middle school. About the Author: Christopher Memoli is a survivor of a rare heart defect known as Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries (CCTGA), an uncommon type of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). Despite the challenges of his condition, he enjoys a full life and is an inspiration for thousands of individuals facing challenges in life. Christopher graduated from Boston University. He is now a successful community development financier in New York City with a deep commitment to philanthropy. He resides with his wife and two children in Westchester County, New York.
