Heather Nelson lives with her family on a farm in the foothills of majestic Mount Hood, Oregon, near the location where this story took place. This novel is based on true adventures during her first summer with horses. While writing this novel, Heather rescued several starving horses, and continues to fill her life caring for horses. Proceeds from the sale of this book will benefit her rescued horses. She has written many stories for children, and has two published books: First Summer with Horses; and Daisy the Protector Dog.
