Hilliard MacBeth

Hilliard provides financial guidance and portfolio management expertise to a small number of high-net-worth individuals and families. His involvement in the investment industry spans more than 36 years as a professional and 45 years as an investor.

Hilliard loves working with individuals and families to help them find a Pathway to Balance in all of their financial endeavors.

Hilliard earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta (1971) and took post-graduate studies in macroeconomics at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario and studied at L’Universite de Grenoble, Grenoble, France. In 2007 he attended the Global Portfolio Managers’ Workshop at INSEAD near Paris, France. Hilliard visits conferences in Europe and the U.S. regularly, to continue to improve his understanding of the forces that make markets move.

He published his first book, Investment Traps and How to Avoid Them in 1999 with Prentice Hall Canada. That book alerted investors to the “buy high” trap of the dot-com bubble and explains in understandable prose how the individual investor can outperform the markets.

Hilliard’s latest book When the Bubble Bursts: Surviving the Canadian Real Estate Crash was released in March 2015. In it, he describes the Canadian housing bubble, the reasons why a serious correction is inevitable and provides strategies to help Canadians survive the coming disruption.
