I earned my B.A. in government from the College of William and Mary and my Ph.D. in government from the University of Virginia. I taught and served as Chair of the Department of Social Sciences at McNeese State University before coming to Middle Tennessee State University as Chair of the Department of Political Science. Since 2008, I have been serving as Dean of the University Honors College. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the American Mock Trial Association, a member of the American Mock Trial Association Coaches Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Congressional Neal Smith Award for contributions to law-related education, and of MTSU's Outstanding Career Achievement Award. I have written numerous articles and reviews and have contributed to numerous books.
