Russia's last line of defense against the German invasion is the Volga River that runs through the heart of the country. By 1943, the Russian Army is fighting to hold the few remaining bridgeheads on the west bank of the Volga against the victorious Germans. But, help is coming as American personnel, supplies and equipment pour into Russia.
At the leading edge of the flood is American air power. B-17 bombers and P-47 fighter groups arrive on the east bank of the Volga and are thrown into the battle for Kazan. Soon, Americans on the ground and in the air learn the full horror of the Russian Front as they try and build their alliance with the Russians. As Americans and Russians fight side by side, soon both nations find that an alliance is becoming a firm friendship.
