In the United States, in New York, after the first performance of "Mrs. Warren's Profession", the police arrested the house manager. The arrest was made on the charge of disorderly conduct. It was surprising that all the actors who had acted in the first performance of the play were ordered to appear in court. The house manager and the actors were eventually acquitted, but the play was not allowed to continue after its first performance on the opening night. "Mrs. Warren's Profession" has been revived on Broadway five times since its first enactment in the United States.
