The play was registered in the Stationers' Register on 17th of May 1594. It was first printed in 1633. This is the only surviving edition of the play. The prologues and epilogues of the book were written by Thomas Heywood. In the recent times, the play has been revived several times by different drama companies around the world. It has been translated into almost all the major languages of the world. "The Jew of Malta" was directed by Jeff Dailey in the New York City in November 1999. Bart Shattuck was in the role of Barabas, the main character. The play was also adapted into a movie in the year 2012 and it was highly successful movie. As a part of Marlow 450, "The Jew of Malta" was performed at the Marlowe Studio by Fourth Monkey Theatre Company.
