Love Letters: Abyss of Loneliness by Michael H. Mitias

This novel is an autobiography of the longing, pain, joy, and tender passion of romantic love. It is an exploration of the source and aspiration of the impulse to love another human being. A lover is willing to give up the glory and pleasures of ordinary life and live in the eternal presence of her or his beloved. Why? This autobiography is written by two lovers. The first, whose love remains unfulfilled, expresses the elegance, magic, and yearning of the loving heart; the second, whose love is stolen by the hand of death, expresses the nobility, profundity, and devastating effect of romantic loneliness. The author argues that the quest of romantic love is one of meaningful life, which consists of recognizing the basic capacities that make us human. Love is based on the commitment to the universal human values that have propelled and sustained human civilization during the past five millennia: truth, justice, freedom, friendship, divinity, and beauty. Love is the most basic urge in human nature; it aims at the realization of human potentialities and, ultimately, human fulfillment.
