Old Heroes by Steve Liddick

Retired Col. Tom Kelsey and Sgt. Andy Stubbs are in their eighties. The two WWII veterans live in a senior care home. Both suffer all the things that come with getting old, including being treated as invisible and not worthy of respect. Kelsey is being held against his will by a controlling daughter-in-law. When they learn there is a reunion of their WWII South Pacific fighting unit, the old soldiers conspire to escape from the care facility. While in Manila, circumstances put them once again in a combat situation, forty years after the end of their war. They must call upon long dormant fighting skills in order to survive a modern enemy that is trying to kill them.
