Phil Henny

Phil was born in 1943, in the village of Montagny près d’Yverdon in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. Phil Henny has devoted his life to his passion for racing. After an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic at the famous Paillard-Bolex camera company in Yverdon, Phil started in 1964 by converting Swiss driver Maurice Caillet’s E Type Jaguar to compete in the F.I.A. World Manufacturers Championship. A year later he joined French Formula One driver Bernard Collomb and toured Europe as his personal mechanic with his Formula 2-Lotus 35. Working for Shelby American in 1967, Phil participated in the development and construction of the famous Ford MKIV that won Le Mans that same year, driven by Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt. After years working for renowned drivers, Phil decided to sit behind the wheel of his own race cars for pleasure and to prove the efficacy of the products manufactured by his company, DRYSUMPSYSTEMS Inc., founded in 1971. Beside his mechanical talents, Phil enjoys writing about the joy and the tribulations of his life in racing. Phil lives in Portland Oregon USA.
