Sam Saggers
Sam Saggers is the CEO and co-founder of Positive Real Estate, an author and a regular contributor to the Australian national media.
Saggers’ started in real estate in 1993 as a sales agent. His passion for property drove him to be an avid investor, buying his first property in 1998, when he was just 23 years old. He remembers this first experience as his first lesson in real estate, and uses it as a warning story for future investors.
Saggers’ bought a two-bedroom unit in Putney, Sydney for $250,000. The deal performed poorly as he had obtained the property when the market was high, and had failed to negotiate well.
Sam explains, “I got caught up by my own emotions and I fell in love with the property and just had to have it. At the time of buying the property I didn’t look at the true income and expense, I didn’t conduct research at arms-length and I had no idea about the cashflow or growth potential. I soon discovered I was out of my depth.”
The experience did not dampen Saggers’ passion for investing, rather it inspired him to learn more and invest smarter. This valuable lesson has impacted every investing decision he has made since. He now has a property portfolio worth over $10 million. His key predictions and strategies have propelled him as a leading investment expert in the Australian property marketplace.
Saggers’ has helped to educate more than 5,000 people in real estate principles through Positive Real Estate. He has featured in Your Investment Property, Australian Property Investor, Smart Property Investor and Money magazines.
