This is the story of a young Haitian girl who while suffering the rigors of living in an impoverished country is also abused at the hands of her parents. As young Marcia endures the vicious lashing under the blazing Haitian sun she vows that one day she will escape and end the torture. Sins of the Mother follows her life in Haiti and the hardships she endured long into marriage. Like others who have immigrated to America for a better life, Marcia does too, hoping to start over and be free from the beatings. But when her abusive husband follows her, the exploitation continues; will Marcia ever escape the abuse she has lived with all of her life? Will she be able to become the angel of mercy she has long dreamed about? All throughout her suffering Marcia wishes only to aid her fellow Haitians and cure them of their sickened disposition to harm and abuse those closest to them. This is the story of a person who had to survive in order to feel worthy of God's love. Only through the grace of God can Marcia escape; but will it be enough?
