Stuart Namm

I am a retired judge from New York State, but I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Born in 1933, in the midst of the "Great Depression," I grew up in various tenements in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York. There were times when my family was on "home relief," now known as "welfare." A graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and City College of New York, I was the first member of my nuclear family to graduate from college. However, that would never have happened if CCNY was not a "free tuition" school. A member of the Army ROTC at City College, and a four year member of the varsity Lacrosse team. After being married to Lenore Abelson during Christmas recess in 1954, I was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in 1955, and after graduating from the Basic Infantry Officer's Course and the Army Ranger School, I spent 16 months in Korea with the 17th Infantry Regiment as platoon leader and Asst. S1. I entered Brooklyn Law School, evening session, upon returning from Korea.
