Space had been settled and many different life forms, most humanoid, have been discovered. Humans had spread out all over the galaxy. Cargo ships were used to support these settlements. The whole system was guarded by a military force called the Colonial Federation and each settled area belonged to the Federation of planets for protection. All was well, until the shipping lanes were ravaged by pirates. The Federation forces had tried and tried to intercept the pirates, but none had ever been caught. These pirates could strike and be gone before the Colonial fighters could get to the stricken ship. No one had ever been attacked by the pirate fighters and survived. When the pirates attacked, a ship was stripped of cargo, the crew killed and the captain taken captive, the ship left floating in space when Colonial fighters arrived. So many crew members had been killed that the Colonial warriors that chased the pirates started, calling them "The C.R.A.C.K.," which stood for Creatures, Real and Certain Killers. This story tells of that quest to catch, destroy, and eliminate the C.R.A.C.K. This story is about caring and taking care of one another during times of hardship and of victory; a story of rising above self for the betterment of humanity.
