"Wake up, puke," he said to the prisoner as the man stirred. The prisoner looked at Jake. The man's eyes were expressionless. He was a pro. Jake leveled his .357 revolver and aligned the front and rear sight with the man's forehead. "Your buddies are toast. Shinn Beit has them, and they have become real blabbermouth." The man's eyes narrowed. "You were the back-up plan, but I didn't hold out much hope. You're a true believer. I knew you would never talk." The man raised his head. He looked at the open pack of cigarettes on the table. "May I have a cigarette?" "No. Smoking is really bad for your health," Jake said as he slowly pulled the hammer of his weapon back to a fully cocked position. Jake fired twice and watched pieces of his prisoner's head splash against the faded yellow wall. He fired a third time into the now lifeless body. The noise was deafening. Jake knew that it would be several hours before the ringing in his ears stopped. He placed the revolver in his jacket pocket and walked to the door. He stopped, smiled, and retrieved the pack of cigarettes before leaving the room.
