In the first story The Paraffin Glove, Detectives Fisher and Goldstein investigate the murders of two young males and a third crime scene where a victim is barely breathing. Detectives Mike Fisher and Amy Goldstein are unable to come up with any clues of how two of the victims were murdered and one severely injured until they are given some insight by the medical examiner Helen Ross. The two detectives and their captain are unable to determine how their suspect is able to leave a crime scene and not leave one single piece of evidence behind. There are no finger or footprints. There are no bloodstains either. After meeting with a business owner, Detectives Fisher and Goldstein finally get a break. This helps them determine why their suspect never left any fingerprints behind. Then they get another break after receiving a call from their captain to go to the home where they meet a mysterious man and a family who's son met their suspect but doesn't know her name. So Detectives Mike Fisher and Amy Goldstein decide to keep an eye on this mysterious man. They decide to follow this mysterious man Mr. Thorn, hoping to discover who their suspect is. The two detectives consider using technology to assist them in solving the case. In the second story the Dark Genius, one of the detectives feels as though they are being followed or the victim of a stalker. Nothing could prepare one of the detectives for what they will experience and the person behind it all. Detectives Fisher and Goldstein fall in love with one another. In the Dark Genius, two of the detectives and their captain must also consider that they are looking for a serial killer. A horrible ordeal leads to one of the detectives being rushed to an emergency room by a paramedic. Is it someone this detective knows? In the Dark Genius Detective Jackson and Captain Costello are called to a crime scene where the remains of a female were left and the crime scene reminds Captain Costello of a case he worked on just a few years earlier with Detective Fisher and the FBI. At that time the suspect escaped justice. Could this be the same killer? One day in the violent crime unit an investigator walks in and offers to assist Captain Costello and detectives Fisher and Jackson with information. After a meeting with this investigator Detective Jackson decides to make some phone calls and he gets a break and the case moves forward.
