A stunning spectator as mind reader effect using a watch and a few business cards. The routine features a brilliant utility principle with a wide range of applications for other mentalism routines.
"I've found that Steven's solution to the watch force is a perfect development, with some lovely subtleties, meaning that you can perform classic effects with any watch (not just ones with a certain feature like other forces) as well as Steven's great routine." - Peter Turner
The Effect: You read the spectator's mind, and then the spectator reads yours.
Offering a spectator a blank business card, you offer to demonstrate placing a time in their head. When they have what they believe it to be, you ask them to write down the time. This is then replaced face down into the stack of business cards from which it came.
Needing a randomly generated time free from influence, the spectator borrows your watch and turns it to a random time; they lock the time in place and keep it concealed from you. You slowly ascertain the time they randomly set your watch to.
For the finale, you reveal that the spectator has correctly picked up on the time you were trying to send them.
