Uwem Udoko
Uwem Udoko is an African creative writer, poet and columnist. My first published work Broken Pots - a play, won nomination for the prestigious NLNG Nigerian Prize for literature and was cited in a literary compendium titled Masterpieces of African Literature (see Masterpieces of African Literature, 2014,edited by Prof. Ebele Eko of the University of Calabar, Nigeria). My second play is titled The Retrial of Ken Saro Wiwa. I hope to make it public before the end of 2015
I see literature as a tool for social engineering and change and my works mostly dwell on the theme of change and social regeneration. Though my works are located in African settings, they address universal issues like injustice, power, greed, violence and love etc. I believe that with literature, we can forge understanding and cultural cooperation across ethnic and racial lines and I look forward to forging an alliance with like minds across the world. I love children, pets and outdoor activities like fishing, hunting and gardening etc.
