After I turned sixteen, I returned to my home state where I married Abraham Lincoln Salter Sr. We separated when I was 21 years old and divorced at 29. I attended O. I. C in preparation for my GED which I obtained at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluff, Iowa. This allowed me to attend nursing school at Fort Omaha. At the age of 63, I studied to become a Nursing Assistant at NIT(Wyotech) in Long Beach. Out of frustration and disappointment of looking for a job that seemed to elude me, I started writing poetry again. I'm a mother of four, grandmother of five and great grandmother of ten. I'm a member of Way of Faith Ministry in the Springdale Community. Pastor Dannie Brayboy is overseer. Elder Calvin Card is Pastor. Associate Ministers are Pastor Mary Card and Dr. Ernest Campbell.
