Without You by George Simon

When the person you spent your life loving and caring for dies, you understandably feel an overwhelming sense of loss. This grief takes over your life, and you wonder how you will be able to go on without them. I have felt this depression and grief ever since she passed. I know that I will never in this world touch her, kiss her, or hold her again. But, I have come to understand that the most important aspect of our relationship is still there and for that matter always would be there. Our love for each other-it will never die. When George's wife of thirty-eight years died, he felt that his life was over. He could not go on without her. With each passing day, his depression deepened, and he felt alone. Each room of the house reminded him of her and added to his sorrow and despair. How could he go on without the one he loved so much? George felt that he had failed her when she needed him the most. He could not save her, could not take the pain away, could not even bring her home to die as he had promised her he would. He questioned how she could possibly love him. Finally, George remembered the diary she kept of their life before they married. He reread the diary and realized that she did love him. She loved him as much as he loved her. He was without her but he still had her, still had her love, and she still had his love. The day George realized that their love was still there, still present in his life, is the day that his depression lifted. He will always think back on their life and think only of the good times and remember how much he loved her and how much she loved him. I promise you, Mary Ann that I will never think of myself as being without you. I will never be without you again, Mary Ann, because I love you, and love is eternal.
