This is a 1-x-x count developed by Canadian magician Norman Houghton around 1955 and popularized by Brother John Hamman. You repeatedly show the same card while tabling the others one by one. Very easy to do, but perhaps not that deceptive. Allan shares a nice touch to make this count quite a bit more deceptive.

This is similar to a riffle force but in fingertip control position. You riffle while the spectator says stop.

This is a 'princess' style mental effect. Spectator receives a few cards, remembers one of them and then these cards are shuffled back into the rest of the deck. The performer shows groups of cards to the spectator until a group is identified that holds the spectator thought of card. The card magically travels from one packet to another packet exactly to the position that a second spectator cut to.

This is a neat technique to split a deck into four packets of exactly 13 cards each without counting.

The Elmsley count, developed by Alex Elmsley, is probably the easiest and most deceptive count there is. Allan calls it 'the monster move of the 20th century'. Countless of routines have been devised using this move. The most famous of all is Twisting the Aces by Dai Vernon.

Deck is shuffled and spectator cuts to a card. Performer removes one pip at a time from the card until it is entirely blank and as a final climax the card vanishes completely.

A card is selected and returned to the deck. The performer cuts to a random position to show an indicator card. The value of the indicator card is used to count to another card which the performer thinks is the chosen card. However, the indicator card was already the spectator chosen card. So it appears as the performer messed up. Nevertheless, everything straightens out magically and the card counted to is the spectator card and the card counted off are the aces.

This Steve Draun idea allows you to peek the card while you do fan cards using a pressure fan. This is in contrast to techniques where you glimpse at or after closing the fan.

This is a neat ambitious type card routine where it appears that the deck consists of all the same cards because the same card can be found on the top, center and bottom.

It is assumed that you know the Ultra Move, Double Deal and a double lift.

The double undercut is one of the basic utility moves of card magic. It allows you to move cards from the top to the bottom or vice versa. It can also be used as a card control. Allan teaches you both, the in-hand and on-the-table varieties.
