This is an incredible ACAAN with two completely normal decks of cards. Really powerful and semi-automatic, so easy to do. A very important point is that it only takes 5 seconds to reset.

The spectator has the choice of one of two decks. She thinks of any card (totally free choice). This card is taken out of the deck, signed, returned, and the deck is cut several times. Then the second deck is shuffled and cut. The spectator cuts this deck into four piles which are arranged around the other deck of cards. The spectator has a free choice to either turn face-up two packs, and for the other...

A C.A.A.N. Duel is a pair of incredible card magic effects of the 'Card At Any Number' theme. In the first effect, which gives the eBook its title, a complete deck of 52 cards, possibly also borrowed, is shuffled at will by a spectator who will take part in a challenge. The challenge is to guess which card is located at a given number between 1 and 52. After giving an initial example, we move on to the actual challenge: the magician begins, demonstrating his great skill in the matter by announcing (and writing on a notepad) the card, even before knowing the number that the spectator is going...

"ACAAN with a mental shake"

Gerard likes the ACAAN plot. Whether it is impromptu or formal, closeup or on stage, it always has a strong impact. There have been loads of methods since Mr. Berglas presented this effect in the mid 70's. For this manuscript, Gerard wanted a 100% hands off solution, direct, practical, with NO sleight of hands and doable on stage or closeup and, if possible without knowing the card nor the number. The result is not a card trick but more of a mentalism effect.

Any Card At Any Number - You table a cased deck, then remove a small, thin note-pad from your shirt pocket and ask one person to name any card. Let's assume he says, "The Queen of Spades." You record this on the pad. You next ask a second person to name any number from 1 to 52. Let's assume this person says, "22". You record this too, then pick up the cased deck. You remove the cards and show that they are all different. You hand the deck to one of them, and ask that he deals down to the 22nd card... it's the Queen of Spades!

This is a straight forward ACAAN that is very easy to do - one could say it is more or less a move-less method. You ask the spectator to name any card (no force, completely free choice). Then you ask them to cut a portion of the cards off the deck and count the cards. This is the free selection for a number. Again there is no force of any kind. The spectator can cut as little or as many cards as she wishes. Nevertheless, the card the spectator has chosen earlier ends up at the same number.

[Note: The method is deceptively simple. It will probably not fool most magicians, but it will fool the vast majority of laypeople. The advantage of this method is that it requires no preparation and no forcing of any kind.]

After fanning the cards to show they are mixed the performer places the deck on a small table or hands it to someone to hold, at which point he never touches or even approaches the deck again. Next, the performer, in order to prove no stooges are being used picks up a box that is filled with paper balls and slings it in an arc over the entire audience asking everyone to catch or pick up a ball near them. A freely chosen number between 1 and 52 is written on a business card. A freely chosen card is written on a second business card. Both of these are locked inside the card case. The performer takes the deck and deals until the number is reached. Sure enough, the chosen card is found at the freely chosen number. The best news? There is a very cool gimmick in play which makes this whole thing practically...

A merge of ACCAN and Do As I Do.

ACAAN is one of the most loved card plots and Do As I Do is one of the most ignored. ACAAN meets a Monkey is a unique cross-over between both of them.

Here two cards get chosen, one by the performer and one by the participant. Both cards are then lost and the cards get shuffled. Both cards are later found by the participant at the number that the participant decides on.

Flow of Events:

• A pack of cards gets cut into 2 packets by the participant.
• The participant picks one packet and the performer picks the other one.

This is a collection of 10 ACAAN and plot variation methods. It covers subconscious predictions, Si work, and other such shenanigans.

Here is a list of the contents:

Predestination - A deck is shuffled by the spectator, and a card is thought of. The participant deals cards until they find the one they thought of. You have predicted the exact position it was found in. No forces involved, and nothing is said out-loud by the participant. Oh, and you can perform this blindfolded.

True ACAAN - No stooges, forces, trick decks, etc. It requires work, but it's not hard to do, and is entirely...

Imagine:

The magician introduces a special deck of 52 cards, where each card is seen to have a number 1 through 52 printed on it. The spectators (two of them) are asked to verify that all the numbers are indeed different, that there aren't any duplicate numbers. The magician hands one spectator this special deck (in a face-down position) and says, "I want you to select a number 1 through 52. But instead of just thinking of a number 1 through 52, I want you to randomly select one. Like that, even you don't know what number you'd end up with, thereby eliminating any psychological influence....

EFFECT: A spectator shuffles a packet of number cards as much as he wants and deals through it to create a random number. Then, he deals through a blue-backed deck of playing cards (in which the magician put a red-backed prediction) and stops at his number. Let's say his card is the 7 of Clubs. Unbelievably, the red-backed prediction is the 7 of Clubs!

Why do ACAAN with one deck when you can up the apparent impossibility with two decks? That's the beauty of Arbitrium.

Imagine removing a prediction card and placing it in your pocket. You then bring out two decks, one with numbered cards and one standard deck. The spectator makes an actual free choice from each deck, selecting one number and one playing card. ARCAAN is an ACAAN with two decks of cards that is not only very easy to do but a complete miracle. It works every single time and always with a different card. For fans of the theme, it is certainly a gem to try.

An ACAAN for stage and parlor performers.

In short: The performer asks 3 participants to name a suit, a number and a value. Next invites one of the participants to deal down the cards. And like it should be, the named card lies at the named number.

A prediction envelope...

Give a spectator the deck of cards with the promise that you will not be handling it again. The first spectator is asked to simply name a card and the second one to name a number between 1 and 52. The magician instructs the second spectator to deal to his named number. When the spectator reaches his number, the corresponding card matches the first spectator's named card.

What the audience sees and hears:

The Performer brings out a deck of cards and points to a person asking him to think of any card but not the Ace (as its common for people to go for it) and another person to think of a number between 1 and 48. He then proceeds to pull out the Aces meanwhile handing out small packets of cards to 4 different audience members and asks them to shuffle the cards thoroughly. While they are busy shuffling, the two audience members are asked to name their thought of card and the number for the first time.

For decades magicians are on a quest to perform Any Card At Any Number from a borrowed and shuffled deck; which isn't always possible so they often settle for Card At Any Number.
