Edward Victor

(London, England: 20th August 1887 - 17th April 1964)

Stage name of Edward Victor Neuschwander, of Swiss parentage. Expert pro cardman, manipulator, and shadowist. Played St. George's Hall often from 1914 to 1926. Played Abanazar in the Aladdin Xmas panto from 1937 on. Magic teacher (Bobby Bernard, etc). Invented the Eleven Card Trick (by 1945).

Wrote Magic of the Hands (1937, 119pp), More Magic of the Hands (1942, 145pp), and Further Magic of the Hands (1945, 103pp), all classic books, plus some booklets. Tricks in Magic Wand. See Rae Hammond, The Magic of Edward Victor’s Hands (1995, 250pp).

1952 Sphinx Award. In the 1940s produced the world's smallest magic set: "20 Tricks in a Match Box". Retired in 1960. His son, Patrick Victor (died 1956), was also a pro shadowist.

This is volume two in the classic sleight-of-hand trilogy. From the foreword:

Since many branches of Magic are again represented in this volume, a close study of it will, I sincerely hope, assist the reader in perhaps making some little change, addition or improvement in an existing 'move' or effect in which he may be interested.

I have included in this book my method of working and presenting "The Chinese Rings," mainly for those of my readers who have not up to now performed this effect, and who may desire a reliable and effective method of presentation for this "classic" trick.
