(Mayfield, Suxxex, England: 10th April 1857 - 24th April 1930)

Amateur magician who enjoyed entertaining children at parties with sleight-of-hand, charades, and other party games. World’s most prolific inventor of puzzles since publishing his first book, The Canterbury Puzzles (1907). Often collaborated with leading American puzzle inventor, Sam Loyd. Dudeney, unlike Loyd, was scrupulous in giving credit to the inventors of puzzles other than his own.
