An intriguing selection of card effects, A Spell Of Cards is not wholly concerned with spelling tricks. There are more than several offering a sideways glance at the concept. They take the spelling genre a little bit off the usual well-beaten track.

Staple Gun Roulette

Four staple guns are shown to be laid on a table in front of the audience, everyone watching is asked to think of a number from 1-4. A random member of the audience is then asked to come onto the stage and the guns are numbered 1-4 by the participant. The participant is then told to imagine that the number they chose is the loaded gun and is to leave the gun with that number on the table at all times. Next, a small whiteboard or notepad is introduced and the performer writes down sixteen consecutive numbers, inviting the spectator to select four. The four chosen numbers are added together, creating a final total. This generated total is counted to in the packet, locating the one card that occupies that position. Cut It Out

The spectator is asked to cut a regular packet of cards and to complete the cut by placing the bottom half on top. The performer ribbon spreads the cards face-down onto the table, inviting the spectator to slide any card from within the spread. The selection is at this stage kept face-down with its identity remaining unknown.

The packet is once again gathered up before the spectator is asked to again cut the deck into two piles. The position cut to is marked by placing the lower half of the deck onto the upper at a right angle. The selected card...
