The deck (can be borrowed) is shuffled by a spectator and the black Kings are removed from the deck. A card is freely selected (can be signed) by a spectator before it's lost in the deck.

A spectator selects an ace, say the Ace of Hearts. The magician explains that he made a prediction earlier, and shows a packet of four blue backed cards, apparently a single ace among three jokers. With a snap, the magician claims that he can make the selected ace turn face up. One card does reverse, but a joker. Despite this, the performer shows that he clearly has three jokers and only one ace: the selected ace, the Ace of Hearts! One of the jokers is now turned over to reveal another prediction: the back is now red, and has writing that reads “Ace of Hearts”! All of the cards may now...

A card is selected from the deck, say the 8 of Clubs. Four Jokers with red backs are introduced. The performer claims that the jokers will reveal what card the spectator selected. One of the jokers is placed with the deck. The other three now have bold words printed on their backs: the three cards together read “Eight of Clubs”! You bring a red backed prediction out of your pocket along with a blue backed deck of cards.

A B'Wave effect with a new twist!

You remove two packets of cards – one red back and one blue back - from your wallet. The red backed packet is placed at the center of the mat and the blue backed packet is placed into your left hand. You explain that you are going to play a game similar to poker. You point out the four-card packet on the table saying,

"I have four cards here and among them lie three Aces of different suits. I've added an indifferent card that might come in useful in a few moment. In my hand I have five cards. Four are Aces and the fifth is a duplicate of the missing...

The original trick, first released by Devin Knight in 1972 and long off the market. It is available again, after being one of his most popular effects during a recent lecture tour. You show a deck of cards and have a lady freely select a card. There is no force. The lady may sign the card if you wish. The card is returned to the deck and lost.

You tell the lady that you will give her magical powers and that she will find her card with magic. This always intrigues the lady you are performing it for. You ask the lady to blow a kiss toward the deck. The deck is spread and an image of a kiss...

A packet of cards is introduced for a "kind of" poker game in which the spectator cannot lose. The magician explains he has two rewards for him. At the end of the dealings, if the spectator's hand beats the magician's, he gets a $20 bill. If his hand is a royal flush, he gets the magician's credit card. And if the magician's hand beats the spectator's, nobody loses anything. Fair enough?

The cards are then dealt accordingly to the spectator's choices between the magician and him - five cards each. When the spectator spreads his cards face up on the table, he has four cards from a royal flush...

Very easy to do, impromptu and with a big effect! What else would you ask? Count Down by Ken de Courcy is a card trick that you can present in several ways, all well explained in this little manuscript.

The basic effect is the following: A spectator shuffles his own pack (Yes! It can be his own pack of cards and he really shuffles it...), then counts ten cards in a reverse order. If a number of spots on a card happens to match the number he is counting aloud at the time, the card is thrown out face-up. If none match during the count, a card is dealt face down in front of the magician.

Basically, two thought-of cards selected from a thoroughly shuffled deck are revealed by the magician. The first one is found by reading in the spectator's mind. The second one is found by spelling the name of the first card revealed, dealing one card for each letter from the top of the deck. The card at the last letter is turned over: It is the second thought-of card!
