Michael MacDougall
Mickey's Five of a Kind by Michael MacDougall

A compilation of five impossible to find card magic manuscripts of the 1920s and 1930s from the self-styled Gambling Detective. These manuscripts originally cost the equivalent of $120 when first released. Now, in this compilation, they are available for less than the price of a fast food lunch.

You get Mickey's Favorite four Ace Routine: The four Aces are placed face up on the table, then three indifferent cards are placed on the top of each ace. After one pile is shown to actually contain an ace and three indifferent cards, the four cards are shown again, back and front, and the ace has...

Edward Marlo & Wesley James
MINT III Unauthorized by Edward Marlo & Wesley James

Beyond the Eight major pieces of material, not to mention sleights and subtleties, that have remained unavailable since the 20-year run of the New Tops ended, Wesley James has completed the task of fulfilling Ed Marlo's expressed wishes, keeping his material available "for the guys."

Paul Stadelman
Sandu Writes Again by Paul Stadelman

Written by a past master at the art of misdirection, many of the effects are off the beaten path, revealing the original and creative mind of the author. Here's what magical inventor R. W. Hull had to say about a few of Sandu's original mysteries:

In "So Simple" is a mystery that has baffled the brightest minds who've seen it, when you're able to tell how many cards a spectator has cut from a shuffled deck.

"The Sequence of Suits" can be made into a dandy "betcha" stunt and becomes more fun the more times it is repeated.

"Sandu's Prognostication" is something a little different. It is a delightful...

A spectator selects and signs a card in a blue-backed deck. The magician buries the signed card and inserts the Joker into the deck. Bob Farmer
Objet C'ard: tricks and ideas with the Bloom Card by Bob Farmer

In February of 1986, David Ben and I sponsored a lecture by Gaetan in Toronto. It turned out to be a fabulous evening of magic. Towards the end, Gaetan demonstrated a monte routine which used what he claimed was a new kind of trick card. There were about 150 people in the audience and as I was standing at the back of the hall I couldn't really see what was going on. I didn't pay attention.

When the Wright Brothers first took their new machine into the air, there was probably some guy tying his shoes who missed the whole thing. That would have been me. Luckily I got a second chance. Unlike the Wright...

Ritaprova Sen
Target by Ritaprova Sen

The magician asks for a card to be selected and also takes out the joker. After the selection has been noted and signed he buries the card inside the deck and places the deck on the table. He riffles the inner edge with his thumb and suddenly flicks the face up joker into the deck. The face up joker is seen to stick out at a certain portion of the deck until the very last moment before it is pushed in flush with the deck and the deck is immediately spread to show that the joker landed right next to the selection. A work of true precision. And this can be repeated as many times as you wish. Almost...

John Mendoza
John Mendoza Lecture: 1982 in United Kingdom by John Mendoza

On August 2nd, 1982, Martin Breese organized a John Mendoza lecture, which was taped for later release as a video. But Martin being the busy publisher he was had so many other projects to work on that he never got around releasing this recording. We rescued the recording from two old Umatic tapes Martin gave to me. Since this was recorded in the early 80s do not expect a high definition video. But it is nevertheless a good recording of Mendoza's lecture. The video has some flaws here and there with stripes, ghost images, and an occasional blackout. The audio track has no noticeable blackouts or problems....

Mark Lewis
The Annotated Royal Road to Card Magic by Mark Lewis

My name is Mark Lewis. This is the book that changed my life. In fact, I suspect it changed the life of a lot of other card magicians too. The Royal Road to Card Magic was first published in 1949 and 70 years later it is still considered the standard work in card magic. A terrific study plan which if you follow carefully (as I did) you cannot possibly fail to achieve proficiency as a card magician. You can start the book knowing nothing about card tricks but by the time you get to the end you will become an expert. Of course, a lot of things have happened in card magic over the last 70 years since the book was first published...

A version of this stunning effect first appeared in print in Hugard's Monthly Magic Magazine dated April 1962. The effect and method of the 'Wild Card' originated by Peter Kane, and described on his behalf by Gus Southall, has become a classic.

Top flight magicians all over the world acclaimed the effect. However, many magicians "fought shy" of it feeling that it was difficult to do, or, sometimes having difficulty in obtaining sets of cards which had really strong contrasts to emphasize the astonishing change. Peter Kane's 'Wild Card...
