Karl Fulves' legendary magazine The Chronicles was limited to 36 issues, from 1978 to 1988, during those ten years some of the finest close-up magic of the period was explained in its pages. From the magazines, with permission from Karl, Aldo has selected ten routines; just a small portion of that outstanding collection.
CONTENTS:
Encore by Kevin Schaller teaches you three easy to do effects with playing cards, a paperclip and a mobile phone.
MOBILE COIN - a very deceptive transposition of a signed coin and the battery of your mobile phone. It’s a very easy trick that uses no gimmicks and is almost impromptu.
SEARCH & DESTROY - A paperclip that is clipped to the card box vanishes and reappears on the selected card.
EDGY - The back and front of your prediction changes so it matches with the chosen card.
All the tricks are easy to do and don't need magnets, threads or big gimmicks. Learn three easy yet effective...
From the preface:
Self-working magic, if you won't hold the pun against me, is a tricky thing.
Some will tell you, as I will, that there is no such thing as truly self-working magic. That is true. Every trick, regardless of method, requires a presentation, a character, a flow of action to become more than a trick, to become an effect. With the proper method, it may become an effect worth doing. But in the beginning, it's just a trick.
And tricks, well, tricks can truly be self-working.
But do we really need another book of self-working tricks? Hasn't all the good stuff been done...
In Tractare (a Latin word that means "to handle") the exploration of unusual effects continues. Tractare features magic that is easy to do, based on a subtlety or simple move, but nothing that really requires sleights or finger flinging. Here you are able to beguile your audiences while making them smile, laugh, engage and become part of your show.
From the preface:
This being a magic book, it's only appropriate to begin with a trick question:
What's a sleight?
Careful; I told you it was a trick question.
Forgetting dictionary definitions for the moment, as magicians we can rattle...
From the introduction:
One of the things that I had to come to grips with when I became a full-time professional performer more than 20 years ago was that I needed to stop focusing on tricks that I liked and had to find ones that my spectators liked. I also decided to try and make my presentations less expositional ("Watch this coin…" kind of stuff) and more about personal expression – letting the audience get to know me perhaps a little bit better as a result of the magic.
This manuscript is the result of my explorations into the Color-Changing Knives. I always loved the trick but...
This ebook, profusely illustrated, is the combined work of the husband-wife team of the Sreenivases. It contains 13 original and highly performance worthy routines with cards, coins, elastic hair bands (a more visible variation of elastic rubber bands), and a silk routine.
As Sreenivas says in his forward ...
"This is my fourth publishing event. The first two were my Linking Ring One Man Parades in 1989 and 1993. The third was my book Card Circus in this Indian Show case Series.
Combined Inspirations is not a book of advanced sleights like my first book. This is a collection of tricks...
Wolfgang Riebe has been one of the most successful professional magicians in the world during the last 30 years with appearances in over 165 countries. This is not just an ebook on prestidigitation, but original routines and ideas that work. A unique feature is that most tricks have video links where you can see Wolfgang perform the effects and routines he shares. So you are not buying an ebook on 'theory', but on practical magic that works. As a bonus he shares links to select online teach-in videos too.

A magician stands before the crowd. He borrows a dollar bill from a spectator. The bill is given to another spectator, who is working as the security guard for this trick. The pseudo-security guard records the serial number from the bill onto a large dry erase board so everyone can experience the magic to come. A third spectator is given a paper bag and a knife.
The magician then asks for the bill to be placed inside of a small dish. The bill is dowsed with lighter fluid and then ignited with a barbecue lighter. The bill bursts into flames and eventually settles into a burned mess of ashes. ...

If you've enjoyed Dave Arch's Tricks 4 Trainers series of ebooks, here's even more. Trainer of corporate trainers, Dave Arch, performs 20 magic tricks - demonstrating how to use them as openers, closers, or illustrations in training and teaching. (The tricks themselves are not explained because this video, or portions of it, are meant to be shown as is to the group of people you train. This is for trainers who do not perform magic. Of course, if you are a magician you will know many if not all of these effects and you can then certainly perform them yourself if you like.)
