December 1932 and The Sphinx magazine carries a full-page advert for Dai Vernon's manuscript Five Close-Up Problems. Without a doubt, Follow The Leader engenders the most attention out of the five, with card men quickly adding this one to their repertoire. Not surprisingly, Doctor Jacob Daley latches on to this timely classic, eventually releasing his own handling in Bruce Elliott's magazine The Phoenix in 1951.

Annemann’s Stop Trick
Performer removes pack from case and shuffles cards. The spectator is asked to cut the pack in half and keep either part. A card is chosen from one of the piles, and the spectator replaces it in the same pile. The performer deals from the other pile, asking the spectator to stop the deal whenever he chooses and to turn over the card at which he stops the performer. Imagine:

A prediction deck is removed from its box by the magician. The magician spreads out the faces of the cards towards two spectators as he tells them "I've isolated one card in this deck as my prediction. I won't tell you what it is just yet. I am going to try to signal it to your subconscious for now. Look carefully." After this, he places this deck face down in front of the two spectators and tells them he will return to the prediction at the end. The magician also promises never to touch that deck again.

Spectator merely thinks of any card out of 52 and that card is the only one with a different back than the rest of the deck. But what if the spectator would have named another card?
