Note: For those of you who own Rain Man and Rain Man Again, this uses a completely different method.
Imagine:
The magician and the spectator are seated together at a table. The magician introduces a deck of cards, which he hands to the spectator - they are asked to examine and shuffle it thoroughly. Once they're done shuffling, the magician takes back the deck and holds it. He says, "I want you to generate a random number between 1 and 52. Of course, I could have you name one, but then you may think I psychologically influenced you towards a particular number or that I relied on you to think of a popular...

Note: For those who own the original Rain Man, you're in for a real treat (see the last condition in the conditions section below).
Imagine:
The magician and the spectator are seated together at a table. The magician introduces a deck of cards and spreads it face up to show that all the cards are different. After this, he turns his back to the spectator and says "I want you to generate a random number between 1 and 52. Of course, I could have you name one, but then you may think I psychologically influenced you towards a particular number or that I relied on you to think of a popular number....

After this, he turns his back to the spectator and says "I want you to generate a random number between 1 and 52. Of course, I could have you name one, but then you may think I psychologically influenced you towards a particular number or that I relied on you to think of a popular number. So to eliminate such ideas, I want you to generate a number by cutting off any amount of cards from the top of the deck and then...

We are proud to reintroduce this rare manuscript of Audley Walsh's gambling exposé, which also includes a number of the author's card effects that make a perfect ending to the lecture.
Contains the "meat" of his now-famous lecture, including a brief biography; how he developed and organized the lecture; gives an excellent summary on the origin and history of playing cards; plus six excellent, illustrated card effects and sleights to present:

"I love your new creation! Great illustrations. A well-structured semi-automatic card trick that could be repeated immediately at table-hopping. I like that instead of the usual counting, only the cards of a chosen color are counted this time." - Dr. Hans-Christian Solka
A new card effect, completely self-working and hands-off, in which it will be the spectator, after freely choosing the color, to find the card at the number as traditionally in any good A.C.A.A.N.
This is a new automatic and completely hands-off card magic effect, where the magician, once the deck has been introduced, shuffled and quickly...

Five 'Hit and Run' effects for the close up performer! Four quick, visual and impromptu card effects with an ordinary deck plus a 'Signed Bill to Marker Cap' effect that is as easy as it is practical. These are effects that you will use.

The 1st installment of the "Sit-Down Card Magic" Series, Quicker than the Eye! is Scott's award-winning card to purse routine, with his full, professional script!
"The hand is quicker than the eye." This old axiom is still widely believed to be true, and most people associate it with magicians. In Quicker than the Eye!, you offer to prove this expression is true in a contest with the participant. You put up money (in the form of a silver dollar in a coin purse) that the participant gets if you lose, but you keep if you win. You fail to provide the proof, so the participant gets the dollar....

A new approach to the Stewart James classic Queer Quest.
Another Stewart James card mystery from the past, brought right up to date by Australian cardman Ian Baxter.
Queer Quest first appeared in The Jinx magazine back in 1938. Publisher Ted Annemann endorsed it immediately because this was obviously not just another card trick. Although the effect is far from new, three spectators each selecting a card with the performer locating them one at a time, Queer Quest stood out because of its simple method and straightforward presentation.
Eighty-five years down the track and Q.Q. is now totally revamped, with easier handling...

This move displays one card three times such that it looks like you have three identical cards. It uses the Christ-Annemann alignment move.

Queens Quartet is a 4 part routine that uses the Queens to find selected cards in different and novel ways.
The routine can be performed as three individual effects (the fourth effect doesn't work itself) or as a whole. In performing the routine as a whole, you will find that each effect has been created to lead automatically into the next one, producing an act that "flows" from start to finish.
You will need to be able to do the following techniques:
1st edition 2014, 9 pages.

You show four queens. The two black queens are placed on the table, the two red queens are retained in the hands. But despite this separation, they change places and the red queens are now on the table and the black queens are in the hands. The next phase is a little 'oil and water' sequence where the queens are mixed black, red, black, red but quickly separate themselves again into two black and two red queens. The startling climax is that all four cards change their back colors.

You show four Queens of heart with a red back. Suddenly the backs become blue and then all four backs change again into four completely different back designs.
You will need four Queens of Heart with four different back designs. One double backer (one back matching one of the Queen's back) and one blank face card where the back matches the other back of the double backer.

All the effects use simple fakes or subtleties to accomplish off-beat effects.
INTERNECINE is a novel version of the Tunnel Change and uses a small packet of cards. The cards appear to change places of their own accord. The performer demonstrates this phenomena further by causing two of the cards to change places in a very convincing manner. Finally the transposition is repeated and this time the change takes place visibly.
DICHOTOMY is a very strange prediction effect. A spectator chooses a card and tears it into two pieces. One of the pieces is destroyed and the other retained by the...

Four cards (you could use jumbos) are shown. They are all the same on the face, but one has flipped face down. They are shown again and a second has flipped face down.
This is repeated until only one remains face up. You now ask if they'd like to 'see' the final card visibly flip face down? They would, but aren't too impressed when you simply remove it, and openly turn it over!
However, when the four cards are dealt face up to the table... they are now all completely different, and match the four freely 'forced' cards that they chose earlier!
This routine is great for mastering the...

It's a devilishly clever method with four different presentations. You'll likely think of several more. There's a You-Do-As-I-Do effect, a Card Climax, a Phone Miracle, and Scarne's Best Prediction. No sleights. Simple, sure, and direct. Can be worked surrounded by spectators and dead easy to perform. All you require is the instructions, as no gimmicks are used. Use anyone's cards.
If you think that the pandemic is limiting your performance opportunities, you'll especially like Scarne's Phone Miracle. All you need is a spectator with a smartphone or landline. And, unlike virtually every...

In effect, a card is selected and signed. The card is then cleanly torn into four separate pieces. The pieces are then placed between the fingers ala The Multiplying Billiard Balls, and the hands are otherwise empty (they really are!). The pieces are then gathered up one at a time. Each side of each piece is clearly shown. The bundled pieces then instantly pop open in a "flash". The card is fully restored and given to the spectator to keep as a souvenir.

"Some of the most clever takes on the Torn and Restored Card in years, Ben Harris' Quarks & Quirks is an invigorating journey of topological twists and tears." - Richard Kaufman
A journey beyond the tear, inspired by the weird world of Quantum Physics. In this superbly produced book, filled with photographs Ben Harris shares seven routines. Includes:
THE QUARTER BACK TEAR
A method for apparently tearing a card cleanly in half, while in reality, only tearing one quarter from the card. This sets you up as either a "quarter ahead" or a "quarter behind" depending upon the intended...

An adaptation of a classic card routine - the Spades 1, 2, 3, and 4 travel between the top and bottom of the deck, finally gathering together on top. Just when you think it's over - no, the magic has only begun. The Spades 5, 6, 7, and 8 appear on top of the deck, the Spades 9, 10, J, and Q appear on the bottom, and the final Spade King rises to the very top of the deck. For full details, see the performance video.

From the introduction:
This ebook is a bit of a departure for me. The material is mathematical, but it need not be performed with playing cards. It can be performed with pencil and paper close-up, or with a blackboard or a dry-erase white board in platform or stage settings. Thus it can be employed in situations when the use of playing cards would be inappropriate. However, I will describe these effects with playing cards as that is how I use them.
The basic idea is that the performer predicts the sum of a seemingly random array of cards or numbers. The spectator has quite a bit of control...
