This is a disarmingly simple yet baffling effect suitable for a close-up or parlor show. A simple cardboard tube is placed on the table and lifted to reveal that inside it is an inverted wine glass with a large red ball on top of it. The tube is freely displayed and can be examined by a spectator. The performer's hands are otherwise empty.

The tube is placed on the table and the inverted wine glass is dropped down inside. Finally, the ball is dropped into the tube so that it rests again on the base of the glass. A snap of the fingers and the tube is immediately lifted off again to reveal...

Transform a cap from a Sharpie pen into a sponge ball and back. The gimmick is easy to make, the rest are basic sleight-of-hand maneuvres.

A matrix effect with playing cards.

You place the Ace, Two, Three and Four of Clubs on the table in a square formation as is typically done with matrix-type effects. You cover two cards with two jumbo cards. One by one all the cards assemble under one jumbo card.

You try to repeat the 'assembly' without the jumbo cards but the regular cards do not move. You turn over three cards and they are seen to be all blank. The other card is the 10 of Clubs, the sum of all the cards!

A small envelope with a hole cut from its address side is examined. A deck of blank-faced cards is then freely displayed and one blank card is openly slid into the envelope which is left in view.

From a regular deck, a spectator touches the back of any card. Let's say it is the 6C. This card is waved over the envelope and when the previously blank card is slid out it is seen to have now printed itself to match the selected 6C.

An envelope is shown and a single card removed from inside, but not shown. The envelope is otherwise empty. This card is a prediction and is replaced into the envelope and left in view. Six Jumbo cards are freely and openly displayed and various spectators are asked to choose any of the cards to eliminate until just one is left.

Despite the fact that there is genuinely no force or selection control, the prediction card exactly matches the randomly arrived at selection.

This direct effect is ideal for a close-up or parlor show.

Show four ten-spot cards all with red backs. Showing them again reveals a four of Spades with a big black dot on its face. Then there are several four of Spades with a big black dot. Suddenly a card has a different back but also a huge hole cut in the middle. When this card is turned face-up it reveals yet a different card. It is madness. Best to watch the demo video.

You show four cards with red backs. Then you table one of the red-backed cards and add a card with a blue back to the remaining three red-backed cards. Suddenly all of these four cards have a blue back. You table one of the blue-backed cards and add a card with yet another back design. The same thing happens, all the cards take on that new and different back design. You do the same procedure one more time. Then the Joker enters the picture and even more all different backs appear. If this doesn't dazzle you then clearly Dazzzillle is not for you.

Rubber band and playing card permanently link.

A rubber band is linked to a previously selected and signed playing card. At the end, the corner of the card is torn off and given away as a souvenir with the rubber band inside.

Show five cards face down with red backs. Magically cards turn face up one by one revealing four Queens but with blue backs. For the climax, the four Queens have now entirely different backs, and the fifth card has yet another back we haven't seen before.

You show four cards with blank faces and red back except one card has a blue back. Suddenly and magically the blue-backed blank card changes to a point card with a black back and a big hole right in the center of the card. How did that happen?

You show four blank cards. Progressively their backs become blue, then faces of queens appear, then their backs become red, and finally all their backs change to yet another new back.

You start out showing two seven of diamonds, one ace of spades and one ace of clubs. But in the process of showing them or turning them over they all become aces of spades, aces of clubs, or seven of diamonds. Best to watch the demo video below.

Two cards are face-down on the table next to each other. When you turn over the first one it is blank on its face. When you turn over the second one a big hole appears in the center. When you turn them back face-down the big hole vanishes. It can hardly get any stranger.

You start with four blank cards and show them from both sides to be blank. Suddenly backs appear, faces appear, and you finish with yet another change of the back designs.

You will need three jacks or three cards with identical faces but different backs. You will also need three blank cards, two of which have the same back, and one a different back. You will also need a piece of hard wax which Peter uses to prepare one card.

Three pre-folded cards are tipped from a card box and displayed as being a QH and two blank cards. The three cards are folded to conceal their faces and arranged in a row on the table ready for the classic Find The Lady. Having mixed the positions of the three cards, the one that should be the QH is opened to reveal it is in fact one of the blanks. That’s surprise no. 1. Surprise no. 2 comes when the other two cards are unfolded to reveal they are both blanks as well! The QH has completely disappeared. Two sets of five ESP cards are freely displayed, one set with red backs, the other with blue. The red set is given to the spectator who shuffles them, the magician mixing the blue set. One at a time the performer places his cards face down onto the table and each time the spectator then places one of his cards at random next to the performer's. When the pairs of cards are turned face up, all five sets are seen to have been put down in matching pairs!

This is a streamlined version of my card matching routine which has extra subtleties and a cleaner handling than earlier versions.

This is a straightforward version of the classic Lie Detector routine that can be performed with any deck (even a borrowed one) and with no advance setup.

A deck is shuffled by a spectator to put the cards into a genuinely random order, and the performer then extracts one card which he leaves sight unseen in view on the table. The magician then asks a spectator three questions about the tabled card, and the helper is invited to make up his answers (since he doesn't know at this stage what the tabled card actually is). Whatever answers the participant gives, the performer spells the word...

Two for the price of one here as with Credit Transfer you get a mental effect and a piece of magic together. A borrowed credit card is slipped into a small envelope. Two paperback books are shown and the pages are riffled of one of the books until a spectator calls 'stop'. The credit card in the envelope is dropped into the book to mark the place. The second book is now opened to reveal an envelope is already inside it, and the page it rests on turns out to match the page just selected in the first book. Then the credit card vanishes from the envelope in the first book and arrives inside the...

A fast-paced series of color changes. Blank cards turn into Jacks, change their backs twice, revert to blank cards, and then for the climax they turn into Jokers.

You will need some double-blank cards, Jacks with different backs, and Jokers with matching backs.

This is a revised version of the classic Parade Of The Kings packet trick from the 1970s.

Four blue-backed cards are counted face down and the performer explains that these are the four Kings. Two spectators between them decide on one of the Kings. Immediately the magician spreads the cards to reveal the chosen King has now magically turned face up.

But there is a further surprise when the back of this King is shown to have also now changed to red.

Then there is a final kicker when the other three face-down Kings are turned face up to reveal they are in fact three blank-faced cards...

You show two cards, one of which has a big hole in the center. You put them together and suddenly the non-hole card has transformed into a stack of banknotes.
