Have a spectator select a card (for one version it is a free choice, for a second version it has to be forced), have it signed, apparently loose it in the deck, and then you either spring the cards onto your baseball cap, or fan the cards before the cap and the previously selected card will appear to be attached to the top knob of your baseball cap.

Ralf explains how you have to gimmick the cap, and he will demonstrate several ideas and handlings of how you can perform this routine.

This is a silent film of a magic show for children performed by Geoffrey Buckhurst probably from the early 1950s. Among the tricks he performs is the Zombie, Egg bag, Torn and Restored Rope, Diminishing Cards, and many other bits and pieces to entertain the kids.

This is performance only, no explanations of the tricks are provided. An interesting window into magic for children during the 1950s.

Performer shows the red back of a playing card. One can see a heart and an arrow is drawn on the back. Suddenly the arrow slowly flies towards the heart until it penetrates it. In the final climax the color of the red card changes to blue. Making the gimmicked card requires arts and crafts.

The magician draws a coke can on the back of a playing card. With a wave of his hand, the card changes to a real coke can.

Please note that this only works from a very narrow viewing angle and thus can only be successfully performed when a camera is between the performer and the spectator which allows precise control of the viewing direction. The gimmick is easy to make.

Determine the card selected and the sum cast with two dice in a novel and very deceptive way.

You show a deck of cards, shuffle it and while you look away the spectator throws the two dice, adds the points shown, removes that many cards and remembers the lowest card in the removed packet. The dice are covered so that the performer can't see them. Now comes the unusual thing. The removed packet is inserted by the spectator somewhere in the middle of the pack. Then the spectator cuts and with a rosetta shuffle the cards are shuffled. This is immediately followed by any number of riffle and...

The vanish is accomplished with a pull. The details of the hookup and presentation are taught in the video.

The Pelli Spread is a move that allows you to show several cards in a spread or small fan while hiding one card. A similar type of move, although the mechanics are different, is the Ascanio Spread.
