You show four cards from the backs. Turning one face up, say the seven of hearts, will magically turn all cards face-up - they are all sevens. You turn them all back face-down. Suddenly they change to the four jacks.

You show one card with a big hole cut from its center and four regular cards without any holes. When you remove one from the regular cards and add the hole card to the others, they all suddenly also have big holes. Then you reverse it back to no holes. It uses a sneaky combination of methods.

You start by showing one joker and several blank cards, which are blank on both sides. Adding the joker to the blank cards makes them all become jokers on their faces. Then you do the same with the backs and end up with a pack of jokers. The blank cards have changed to jokers.

As the name suggests, the ATFUS (Any Time Face-Up Switch) move has something to do with the method of this effect. No gaffs are needed. This is a sleight of hand routine.

This is a "Twisting the Aces" routine, here performed with the Jacks, that includes two color changes of the backs. First, they change from blue to red, and then the Jacks all have different backs.

You start with two packets of four identical cards each, for example, four 10s of hearts, and four aces of spades. You interleave them, show them again singly to confirm that they have been interleaved, but then magically they have separated. You do this twice, once face-down, and the second time face-up.

The two Jokers are removed from the deck. Two cards are then selected. One by one the selections are placed between the Jokers and are then stretched to twice their length.

Now, both cards are placed between the Jokers after which they fuse into one examinable two-faced card that can be given to the spectator as a keepsake.

Finally the other cards are tossed onto the table and are seen to have become totally blank!

In Turbulence, the impossible becomes possible.

Turbulence is a multi-phase card routine that is both mind-bending and entertaining.

Effect:

Turbulence kicks off with a sizzling and super clean "Collectors" phase where four Kings instantly collect three previously signed cards. Then, in the blink of an eye, the three cards instantly vanish. The three cards are then reproduced as they are summoned from the deck one by one. Finally, the Kings are placed in your pocket and an impossible transposition occurs — the Kings are suddenly found on the table while the three signed cards are...

An offbeat effect, the head of a stick man that's drawn on a signed business card moves across the paper to another location. Effects where a drawing changes are always crowd pleasers. This one requires a flame from a cigarette lighter.

The principle, which was entirely new to me, is ingenious and allows you to create all kinds of variations. The underlying principle essentially allows you to vanish a drawing or piece of drawing at will. You can even draw in several colors. I already have a few ideas that I will explore. This is Alan Rorrison's solution to the Hofzinser Ace Problem.

A spectator freely chooses any card and signs it. The card is put face down between the two Jokers and these three cards (Jokers and spectator selection) are tabled. Then the spectator or another spectator selects four random cards from the face down spread. Magically the four chosen cards are the four aces. The ace with the same color as the spectator's card vanishes and reappears between the Jokers. The signed spectator selection is now found among the three remaining aces.
