Magic by TheoryDaniel SkahenAs the title suggests, this is a pure work about theory, but not old and dusty thoughts, instead a fresh and new look by Daniel Tyler. Certainly you will find topics which are as old as magic, such as 'the merit of gimmicks' and 'misdirection', but you will also find a chapter dealing with 'where to shop', which is up-to-date and includes places on the internet. This chapter alone can save you a multiple of the price of this ebook. Or what about 'getting the girl' or 'how to admire Blaine, but be yourself' - all topics that Daniel discusses. You might be shocked to hear that Daniel is just eighteen... | ★★★★★ $7.50 to wish list
Magic by MisdirectionDariel FitzkeeThis volume, book three in the trilogy, is all about the psychology in magic. Mechanics alone, a sleight or move, are not sufficient to produce a strong magic effect. Dexterity by itself is more like juggling. Only if misdirection, the psychological aspect of deception, is added into the mix, will one be able to create a truly magic experience. There aren't many good works on misdirection. This is one of the must read ebooks, a classic in the theory of magic. A shorter but modern discussion of misdirection can be read in Pocket Power by Jarle Leirpoll. Paul Fleming wrote: Several years ago, in our examination (Review No.... | ★★★★★ $9 to wish list

Great MagicSam SharpeFrom the preface: When Neo Magic was finished I thought I had said all there was to say on "The Art of the Conjurer"; but before that book was off the press I found myself jotting down fresh observations on this fascinating, though neglected, subject. Magic Artistry is the result, which may be said to supplement Neo Magic. Many of the ideas put forward herein will be new to most conjurers; and, through being strange, may seem obscure or outlandish; but such an impression will doubtless pass as their meaning is grasped; though this may not be until the book has been carefully studied several times to get the mind in harmony... | $12 to wish list

Fogelism: An Attitude to LifeMaurice FogelThe famous British mentalist, Maurice Fogel, leveraged his success as performer to branch out into the self-help category, by writing this book. He writes: There is no strange mysticism about Fogelism; it is simply a mental attitude towards life which, I have found, achieves unsuspected results. It is the logical training of one's mind so that it sizes up the approach to a problem and tackles it rationally, instead of allowing the magnitude of that problem to overwhelm.

Entertainment FactorBrian T. LeesTwo magicians do a show. At the end one audience leaves the show walking out like students changing classes at high school. The other comes out excited, talking about some of the "WOW" moments of the show. The difference between the two magicians is the entertainment factor. You can have the best equipment, do the latest/greatest magic and still fail. The true unit of measure for magicians is the entertainment factor. That factor is controlled entirely by the audience. This text identifies elements that impact the entertainment factor.
