Marconick

(The Hague, Holland: 30th March 1930 - 22nd December 2008)

Stage name of Heinz Nikolas "Nick" Stolk, taken from his Dutch Air Force service as a "Marconist" (radio operator). Practiced magic since 1945. Gave over 400 shows in the military 1950-56. Many awards since 1952, including 1955 FISM 1st prize in manipulation and 1961 FISM 1st prize for general magic. Pro stage and close-up since 1956, touring Europe.

Prolific inventor of over 100 marketed tricks in period 1945-67, including Silken Bombshell (by 1959). The Jan 2006 Linking Ring published a premature obituary.

Wrote A Man and a 1000 Scarfs (n.d.). See Lewis Ganson and Hugh Miller, Marconick's Silk Magic (1964).
