I love mind reading and prediction tricks, especially ESP symbol effects or impromptu math related effects that simply amaze.

I have a youtube channel dedicated to MENTALISM-mental magic, be sure to check it out---lots of tricks revealed in addition to performances. I also have 5 books out, 2 of them are magic tricks.

Test Conditions by Maurice JanssenPerformer begins by displaying a deck of cards spread face up on a table. The deck is squared up, turned face down, and handed to a willing participant. At this point the performer turns away and instructs the volunteer to cut to any card, remember their card, shuffle the cards and then spread those cards, face down in a sloppy pile. The remaining stack can be placed inside the card box. The performer turns around, concentrates for a moment and then correctly identifies their card.

Single Card Prediction by Maurice JanssenA prediction is handed to a volunteer to hold. A deck of cards is handed to a willing participant to examine and shuffle as much as they want, any way they desire. They are instructed to deal the cards face-down in three, four, five, or six piles. They have a free choice of which pile to pick. They turn over the top card of their selected pile. They open the prediction, which matches the card they freely selected.

Most Popular Cards by Maurice JanssenPerformance begins by introducing three black card boxes. Next, you have a volunteer select a card and remember it, that card is shuffled back into the deck. The performer now spreads cards face-down into a big messy pile and asks the participant to touch the back of the two most popular cards (Ace of spades and the Queen of hearts). You ask them to touch one more card, the card they freely selected at the start.

The freely selected cards are place into the three boxes. You remind them of their choices and then have them open each box. Amazingly, all three cards match. As a bonus, you have...

Age Guess Trick by Maurice JanssenIt's the classic "guess my age" trick. I stripped this effect down as best I could. It uses their phone, requires no apps, they do all the work, so you can focus on your presentation and reveal. It's one of those effects, that's basically impromptu, ready to perform when you are, with minimal prep. I broke it down to it's core, included the slightly extended version, and some additional suggestions.
  • it's super easy
  • no confusing maths
  • patter suggestions
  • you never see or touch their phone

Adat by Maurice JanssenHere is a quick and easy effect that is very visual. The performer requests a volunteer to think of any random digit between one and ten. Next, the performer directs their attention to a small piece of paper lying on the table. The participant is asked to name their number out loud and read the prediction. The piece of paper is totally blank. You introduce a small black light, ask them to announce their number and shine the black light on the paper, revealing your prediction was correct. [Note that in 2/3 of the cases you need to introduce a second piece of paper to complete your prediction.]
  • no switching
  • no discreet writing
  • zero maths, no counting
  • free choice of digits

You show some picture/ESP/Color cards, ask a volunteer to name a number between 1 and 6, deal to that exact number and reveal a prediction that matches their number called. You then expand the effect by introducing 5 envelopes. Every envelope has something inside, ask them to name any two digit number. Once again you count to their exact number called, they open the "prediction" and are amazed.

Numiracle Prediction by Maurice JanssenA volunteer is asked to merely think of a three-digit number. Next, they are asked to take their thought of number and randomize it a bit by rearranging the digits to form a unique number. The participant is asked to concentrate on the first digit by associating it with a word on a list, while the performer looks away.

The participant is asked to imagine their word as an actual item directly in front of them and make a simple drawing of their thought of item. The performer (turned away) draws an item that matches the participants drawing. He then proceeds to reveal their random number and...

Next, you ask them to think of another word that begins with the letter they just thought of moments ago. You can begin to reveal details about their thought of item and then reveal their specific thought. There are no weird questions asked, no spelling, no phishing, no maths, they don't say anything or write anything, no dual reality, no pre-show, etc. This trick does NOT work 100% of the time.

Imaginary Prediction by Maurice JanssenSingle number cards are introduced and mixed facedown. A volunteer freely selects a card, as does the performer. The selected cards are kept facedown, glanced at and then placed inside an opaque envelope. A prediction is introduced and set aside.

Next, you take the volunteer on an imaginary journey, where they imagine their digit as a monetary value. They deposit their money, it gains some interest, money is withdrawn, gambled at a casino and finally they purchase a coffee from their winnings on the way home. They purchase an item from a list with the money they have left. Keep in mind this...

Here is a nice little effect you can perform with any five cards. In this adaptation, we are using the five ESP symbols. Cards are shown, inspected, shuffled and one symbol selected, by the participant, while you are turned away. They mix the symbols (face down) some more and then deal the cards face down, again while you are still turned away. They pick up their cards, hold them on their palm (still face down) as you begin to sense their symbol, yup you...

Trick Tac Toe by Maurice JanssenA classic of mental magic gets a few enhancements. Yup the very same Martin Gardner classic effect with a simple game of tic tac toe. You know the game you invite a volunteer to try and get three in a row, all while trying to prevent you from getting three in a row.
  • You predict which symbol they will take (X or O)
  • You predict how the game will end
  • You predict which locations they will choose
  • Bonus Prediction: a nice little extra prediction at the end.
The possibilities for the bonus prediction are limited only to your imagination (Lotto numbers, ESP symbols, Rubik's Cube, etc) I have included an...
