Chicanery Magazine

Stephen Tucker
Chicanery Magazine by Stephen Tucker

Stephen Tucker is probably one of the craziest people you will ever meet in magic. He may be crazy but he also happens to be highly talented and a very creative person. He has invented many magic effects and has supported himself over the years by performing magic, inventing magic tricks and editing and producing magic magazines. He was the editor and publisher of the amazing Spell-Binder Magazine.

Chicanery is a worthy successor to Spell-Binder and most of the effects within its pages are by Stephen. He gave himself pen names and a typical Tucker touch is that the names are Pen Tell, Mark Erpen, Nick Fountain,...

Conversational Negotiation

Brian T. Lees
Conversational Negotiation by Brian T. Lees

Entertainment should not be a menu of prices set in stone. There are ways you can charge more for your performances. The power rests in the key elements of communication. Bringing the conversation to an ultimate "take it or leave it" conclusion may not be in the magician's best interest.

There are four elements that need to be covered through conversation. Quoting a price without knowing those elements is a problem that chips away at the magician's profits. Magicians who make more money deploy these elements. They are not hard. In fact, they are so simple to work with that no special training...

De Entre Mis Notas ... Reflexiones Sobre La Carta Doble (El Manejo de Ascanio) by Jesús Etcheverry

Foam Kangaroo Abs

Dale A. Hildebrandt
Foam Kangaroo Abs by Dale A. Hildebrandt

The title of Dale A. Hildebrandt's latest manuscript is Foam Kangaroo Abs. The ebook started out as a very comprehensive, thorough, detailed, and examined-from-all angles treatise on all things related to anagrams within the magic and mentalism world. Not only are progressive anagrams discussed, but there are also details on branching anagrams, non-verbal branching anagrams, the puzzler's anagrams wherein words are re-arranged as games or clues, visual anagrams, and other topics either tangentially or specifically related to anagrams in the mystery arts.

Many others either confuse branching...

Gambler's Cop From Tilt

Allan Ackerman
Gambler's Cop From Tilt by Allan Ackerman

This is a very efficient and deceptive move by Steve Draun. A card that is inserted into the deck automatically ends up in the gambler's cop.

Chris Wasshuber independently developed this move in 1993 during his stay in Japan including an important visual convincer. If you want to learn this improved variation email him. He might be talked into releasing it. If you can't get Chris to talk then check out the Huot/Duperre control from Magic Menu volume 10. It is very similar to what Chris is doing.

Hobservations on Comedy Clubs

Jeff Hobson
Hobservations on Comedy Clubs by Jeff Hobson

The title might be a bit misleading as most of the advice is applicable to any magician who wants to add comedy to their performance.

If you are serious about mixing magic and comedy you need to read this. It will either make you reconsider your choice or give you a head start and pointers in the right direction.

"If you see one magician this decade, Hobson is it." - Herald Sun Melbourne, Australia

"Hobson closed the show with excellent magic and gales of laughter ... his acting and comedic timing are superb!" - Linking Ring Magazine
