William H. Byrnes has achieved authoritative prominence with more than 30 book and compendium volumes, 97 book & treatise chapters and book supplements, 1,000 articles, and a monthly subscriber tax newsletter Tax Facts Intelligence.
William Byrnes pioneered online legal education in 1995, thereafter creating the first online LL.M. offered by an ABA accredited law school. He is a key founding member of the Work Group for Distance Education in Legal Education that in 2013 published Distance Learning in Legal Education: A Summary of Delivery Models, Regulatory Issues and Recommended Practices. Since 1994, he has regularly lectured in more than 30 countries.
Academically William Byrnes obtained the title of “Professor of Law with Tenure” in 2005 at St. Thomas University, and in 2008 the level of “Associate Dean” at Thomas Jefferson. He has had responsibility for the international tax & financial services overall academic program, including initiatives that brought international recognition for curricular development, professionalism through publication, and industry skills training. He served as Chair of two AALS sections: Post Graduate Legal Education and Graduate Programs for Foreign Lawyers, and is currently on the Executive Committee of the Section on International Legal Exchange.
Professionally, William Byrnes was a Senior Manager, then Associate Director of international tax for Coopers and Lybrand, and consulted in Southern Africa, Western Europe, South East Asia, the Indian sub-continent, and the Caribbean. He has been commissioned by a number of governments on tax policy, as well as government and private academic institutions on program development.
