Len Blanchard

I am a native of Connecticut, having graduated from Plainville High School in 1965. I earned a B.A. in English from Washington and Lee University in 1969, graduating cum laude with Honors in English. Having been awarded an NDEA Fellowship through Emory University, I earned an M.A. in English from Emory in 1974 and a Ph.D. in English from Emory in 1975,

I am divorced, the father of two grown children and the grandfather of three granddaughters, all of whom live in the Dallas, Texas metro area. I was resident in Dallas from 1974-1990. I relocated to Florida in 1990. While living in Key West I began publishing my poetry. I have since published about 230 poems in more than sixty literary journals and magazines.

I am also the author of six books. These include a collection of poetry entitled Provocations of the Birds and the Beach. This volume was published by Bellowing Ark Press of Seattle in 2005.

I was employed teaching English at State College of Florida in Bradenton from 1999 to the spring semester of 2014. After fifteen years, I have decided to concentrate on my writing. I have been teaching courses in season since 2007 at Pierian Spring Academy. PSA is a continuing education organization designed to engage retired citizens and others interested in intellectual stimulation. I will continue to teach at PSA. Otherwise, I am now focused on my writing.
