Lovalerie King

Lovalerie King is Director of the Africana Research Center and Associate Professor of English, African American Studies, and Women’s Studies at Penn State University. A specialist in African American literary history, Black Womanist and Feminist Thought, and African American culture and American law, she has authored or co-edited six volumes, including James Baldwin and Toni Morrison: Comparative Critical and Theoretical Essays (2006), Race, Theft, and Ethics: Property Matters in African American Literature (2007), New Essays on the African American Novel and The Cambridge Introduction to Zora Neale Hurston (2008), and African American Culture and Legal Discourse (2009).

She is a regular co-planner of a conference series on African American literature and moderator of the Contemporary African American Literature listserv.
